A JOURNEY IN RUNNING, LIVING, LAUGHING AND LOVING

Rest Day

Monday, October 31, 2011

Today is my first rest day after 12 miles over the weekend. I'm grateful for a little break. That being said, I have to run 15 miles this week, and that's terrifying. On the bright side, it's two miles more than the half. Then again, these 15 miles will be spread over three days and not crammed into two straight hours. Apparently, the glass is half empty and half full at the same time for me today.

I seem to have a hard time on rest days. I seem to have a hard time resting in life. I feel like I should always be doing something. If I'm not on the go, I don't know what to do with myself. I think part of this stems from the fact that I couldn't do so much for so long, and now that I can, I just want to move all the time because I can. But, I'm trying to remind myself that rest is an important part of this training. Anyone with me on feeling rest guilt?

Luckily, it is Halloween, so I have distractions tonight. In just a few minutes, six dozen crazed, sugared, costumed children will come barreling to my doorstep expecting fabulous treats. My guess is that by the time trick-or-treat is over, I will have no trouble just wanting to rest.

Okay, so, today's entry is short and lame. What can I say, I'm new to blogging. Every one won't be a winner, right?!
